Staff Definitions
- As a staff member, you are here to serve and protect, while being more friendly than a police officer. You’re not here to punish, to destroy, or to annihilate. Instead, you’re here to make sure the game runs smoothly and happily.
- Players are everyone who has registered an account and has an active (within three weeks unless providing an explanation for absence) character or has at least posted on the boards. The staff are players, just like the members. They can be called out and told to stop doing something just as easily as those who aren’t. There’s no difference between the two. Look at point #1–you’re here to SERVE just as much, if not more, than you are to protect. Service, that’s what we’re going for.
Game Policies:
- If a fight breaks out on the boards, put the topic on hold for a bit, at least until you can talk to members involved. If the fight isn’t resolved, then keep the topic locked. Note that the only way you can keep a topic with fights permanently locked is when the fight cannot be resolved. If resolved, then reopen it! (deliberately repetitive)
- Spam topics… it’s a sensitive subject. Some people like them, some don’t. On the whole, keep spam down, pop off a few warnings (not warns, but verbal warnings), and be nice about it. If the topic gets to four or five pages with nothing going on and people not roleplaying, then shut it down. The only people entitled to spam are the people who roleplay as much, if not more.
- If a bot shows up, LOCK HIM DOWN. Bots post porn of girls from Croatia and Russia, among other countries, posting nonsense links to places that Invisionfree does not like having on boards. Lock the topics, transfer them to the archives, and then an admin (assuming you are not), will IP ban the bastard.
- It’s been said time and time again, and it’s going to get said one. More. TIME! If someone tells you that someone else is causing problems, ask that someone if they have talked to that someone else about their problem. If they’ve tried and the person continues to be a jackass, then they can come back to you. You, then, will talk to that else-person, and if that doesn’t work, then you can take it to the staff.
- Staff, when something gets brought up to you–GET IT DONE! Work on it, fix it, do it! Still, it’s important to take care of IRL issues. If you can’t work, let other staff members know, maybe take a leave of absence. No one is going to hate you if you can’t do something. If you need a rest, take one. Otherwise, work hard!
- When something is done, announce it! Don’t let it sit and rot!
- When someone asks you about something in the staff boards, tell them about it. Chances are they can give you an idea nobody else thought of before. Don’t tell everyone everything, but be nice enough not to keep people completely in the dark. The only thing you can’t tell people about–story mode. That’s a secret, because it’s a surprise! Being staff isn’t being above other people, it just makes you a gift-giver. (Not that you’re anyone’s bitch or anything)
- Don’t tag a post unless you’re going to start on it right away. If you’re going to tag it, walk off, and come back two hours later, just don’t bother.
